STUDENT POSTER PROPOSAL COMPETITION AWARDS

Mar Log Conference invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit a poster to the Student Projects Posters Competition. Posters will be presented by students and judged during the Conference on Sunday, Mar 19 and Monday Mar 20, 2017.

Abstract Submission: Only one poster abstract submission will be permitted per presenting author. Have the following information ready: contact information for yourself and any co-authors, the title and a 50-word abstract.
Poster Submission deadline for those entering the poster competition: By Mar 1, 2017 participants who wish to enter the competition will be requested to submit their poster in PDF format for review, using the submission procedure listed below:
A complete entry consists of an abstract and an electronic PDF file of your poster.
Please see the guidelines for poster formatting details at the end of this page.
You can make minor changes to the submitted poster before your presentation at the conference.
A PDF of your poster should be uploaded in the Abstract System.

Each poster will be exhibited for 2 hours in its designated place, and during that session, the authors will explain their paper to all parties. The accepted posters will be grouped by the scientific committee according to the theme of the presentation.

The authors of the posters should bring their papers ready to be displayed. The Conference will make appropriate panels available for their exhibition.
Each poster should include the poster title and full names of all contributors, their affiliations, addresses and an email and/or web link.
The poster should be 90cm x 120cm (vertical format)
The posters will be accepted English.

The poster awards will be announced at the Conference banquet on Tuesday, Mar 21, 2017. The industry partners will sponsor several monetary awards for the highest ranking, presented posters.

Graduate Students Poster Awards:
First Place – 1000 L.E
Undergraduate Students Poster Awards:
First Place – 500 L.E

Competition placement will be based on a comparison of comments from at least 2 judges. As a result, the judges will spend time talking to the presenters, asking questions and listening their description of project and contributions. The judges will be aware that the projects being presented may not have been completed at the time of competition. Accordingly, physical demonstrations will not be a component of judging.

The selection of the winning presentations will be based on:

Clarity of poster and oral presentations
Quality of Methodological Approach
Overall responses to the judges’ questions
Completeness of work

Suggested Best Practices

For all posters, please follow these guidelines:

Maintain a good contrast between background and foreground text.
Avoid acronyms and extensive mathematical notation as much as possible.
Include one or more of the following: a short description of the problem, objectives of the work, the methodology utilized, conclusions, relevant diagrams, graphs and charts in order to present an overview for the application.
Organize your poster into sections, e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and Literature Cited. (Avoid using too many citations.) You may wish to use numbers to help sequence sections of the poster.
Arrange the material into columns.
The title should be readable from 15 – 20 feet (approximately 4.5-6 meters) away.
The text should be large enough to be read easily from at least 6 feet (approximately 2 meters) away.
The poster should not rely upon your verbal explanation to link together the various portions.
Avoid densely packed, high word-count posters. Posters with 800 words or less are ideal.
Self-explanatory graphics should dominate the poster
